PIERCE COUNTY BOUNDARY BUFFER SIGNAGE POSTING REQUIREMENTS
The signs shall face away from the critical area and must be placed on posts installed securely in the ground. Posts can be metal or wood. If wood posts are used, they must be at least 2” x 2” in size and be made of treated wood. Posts must extend a minimum of three feet above ground and be sunk at least two feet below ground. Additional sign requirements, such as installation upon fencing instead of posts, may be applied at the discretion of the County Biologist.
PIERCE COUNTY LANDSLIDE FENCING & SIGNAGE REQUIREMENTS
Permanent Landslide Hazard Area Buffer signs and temporary fencing must be installed along the perimeter of the buffer prior to commencing construction on all sites with regulated Landslide Hazard Areas. The temporary fencing may be removed at the conclusion of construction, but the buffer signs must remain. Properly constructed silt fence, orange construction site delineation fence or other more substantial types of fencing may be used to protect the buffer from construction intrusion. Signs must be mounted on standard steel fence posts or 4” x 4” cedar fence posts which must be set in concrete a minimum of 15” into the ground. The signs themselves must be mounted at least three feet above the ground with the printed side facing away from the critical area buffer. Signs must be posted at 50 foot maximum spacing along the buffer boundary with a minimum of two signs required per residential lot.
